Course Requirements:

Students will be responsible for completing daily assigned work and maintaining a “C” average minimum.  Weekly attendance is necessary, as teacher-student contact is limited to only once per week.  The grade will be based on classroom participation, daily assigned work, classroom labs, and projects.  There will also be regular quizzes and tests.  Successful completion of the course is worth 5 credits per semester.  Specific requirements for each assignment will be explained and given to students as they are assigned, including grading criteria and method of assessment.  Please see list of required supplies under “Classroom Policies” on next page.

Classroom Policies:

Late work will only be accepted in the event of legitimate absence, such as illness, family emergency, etc.  Students or parents should notify instructor as soon as possible of an impending absence so that arrangements can be made for students to receive homework assignments for the week.  An absence on class day does not excuse student from the whole week’s work unless there are extenuating circumstances and contact has been made with the teacher.

Please plan to spend about four hours outside of class time preparing for this course.  That is the equivalent of 5 days of classes in the traditional classroom.

Appropriate behavior will be expected of all students at all times, including during breaks and lunch.  Please refer to the student handbook for specific behavior guidelines and disciplinary actions.  Any behavior infraction should be reported to the teacher immediately.

We will be using the property of others for our classes and must always respect the facility, the staff and all their property while we are on the grounds and in the rooms.  All students will be required to assist in weekly clean-up of the classroom and any other part of the facility that we may use.

Use of electronical devices will not be permitted during class time, with the exception of a spell check or calculator, if needed.

Required Supplies: An agenda (supplied by the school), a three ring binder that can be used for all three classes, dividers, college rule paper, pens and pencils, and a highlighter.  Students are welcome to use additional supplies of their choice.  All writing assignments should be word processed unless it would create a hardship for the family.  Daily homework should be hand written neatly in student’s choice of cursive or manuscript.

Problems or concerns:  Please contact me as soon as possible, I am here to help you, I want everyone to be successful and enjoy the classes!
